Why was polygamy outlawed anyway? Anyone know?
According to the story I read, Utah outlawed polygamy as a condition of statehood.
Not sure about everywhere else, but I think it's probably based on Jesus's decree that a man should be married to one woman . . . like Mary Magdalene.

Speaking of polygamy, I read online today that the leader of the FLDS polygamists was pulled over for a traffic violation and then arrested. He's wanted for child rape among other things and was on the FBI's Top Ten Most Wanted list.
