A Voice from the Past

Recently, while cleaning out old files and boxes, I came across this letter from my grandma, gone 6 years this November. I miss her. It was nice to talk to her again.

Mon. P.M.

Dear Tracey & Jim,

So nice to have you out here for a visit.
I saw this article in the paper and thought you might like to look at it. I wonder how our "Cornhuskers" will do now in the Big 12? I hope they keep doing good.
It's cloudy and gloomy here today, hope we get a little rain out of it.

Love,

Granma C

Was it in her handwriting? I love when I find handwritten things of people I love, its like proof they were really here. I always think about how I wish my nana and papa would have met my children, I was so close with them. Papa died when I was in 8th grade, and my nana passed when I was 5 months pregnant with Sydney.
Thanks for sharing :)

My little brother had written a 'to do' list on our project board at work. That was over two years ago. It's still there. Some part of him that I still have now that he is gone. A constant reminder of the part he played in my life.

I'll never erase it.

Kristin: Yes, it's in her own handwriting. It's cool to still have that physical connection. Only my maternal grandfather got to meet my children.

Tricia: I would never erase it, either. It has to make one wonder what kind of things we'll leave behind in the digital age . . . emails? I guess that's why it's a good idea to sit down and actually write a letter once in a while.
